Food Review: The Angus Grill | Table View

Situated right on the beachfront, The Angus Grill in Table View offers beautiful and delicious food, a wide selection of beverages, amazing ocean views and top-notch service.

The service: superlative

Our first visit to The Angus Grill started with a warm welcome. The friendly waitress Nadia showed us to our window seat with a smile. She was chatty without being overfamiliar, quick, efficient and very knowledgeable, making great recommendations. I believe she said “You’re most welcome” after each of our “Thank yous” and we did not feel rushed at all.

The food: fantastic

Be warned: The Angus Grill has a large menu. Starters include platters with meat and vegetarian options; seafood from prawns to calamari; and anything in-between – from buffalo wings to stuffed mushrooms. Meat lovers, take your pick from mains like lamb shank, eisbein and one of their speciality steaks. The 200g  Angus Signature Steak is only R175 (about $12). Vegetarians, try their Veg Platter with baked nut-encrusted camembert, stuffed mushrooms, veg kebabs, rice and new potatoes for only R105 (about $7).

You won’t leave The Angus Grill feeling thirsty either. Choose a hot beverage, opt for your favourite tipple or pick a refreshing non-alcoholic drink.

Beef ’n Reef

Hubby opted for the Beef ’n Reef: sirloin steak and six prince prawns sauteed in lemon and garlic butter with veggies and salad. You’ll pay R170 (about $11) for this meal: succulent steak with perfectly-cooked vegetables, delicious prawns and a fresh salad. Angus’ Favourite Sauce (a creamy bacon, mushroom and garlic sauce) for R30 (about $2) was the perfect addition.

The Angus Grill Mussels in a creamy white wine sauce
Marvellous mussels

Being a seafood lover, I couldn’t resist the Westcoast Mussel Marinière: an abundance of steamed mussels in a tasty creamy white wine sauce served with your choice of side. I opted for the veggies and did not regret my choice. This seafood sensation will cost you R115 (about $8).

The dessert: delicious

I really enjoyed the warm malva pudding. My only criticism is that it could be a tad sweeter.
