I’m reading Chaka (also Shaka or Tshaka). I remember this as a TV series when I was a child, but this is my first time really exploring the story of Shaka, the founder of the Zulu Empire in southern Africa.
What’s your favourite can’t-leave-the-house activity?
Baking. That’s everything from really good chocolate cake to really bad … uhm … non-biscuits.
What’s a book you’ve been meaning to read for forever?
Shantaram by Gregory David Roberts. Not only have I been meaning to read it, but I’ve tried several times…
What’s an intimidating book on your TBR?
I bought Oryx and Crake by Margaret Atwood about a year ago at a book sale and am yet to attempt it.
What are the top 3 priority books on your TBR?
Living Coloured by Yusuf Daniels Girl Woman Other by Bernardine Evaristo. This was the co-winner of the Booker prize with Margaret Atwood’s The Testaments. I want to see how the two compare. Black Tax edited by Niq Mhlongo
Recommend a short book.
The Shack by WM. Paul Young
Recommend a long book. A Little Life by Hanya Yanagihara. This is my favourite book of all time and I’ll be recommending it till kingdom come.
What is something you’d love to do while stuck at home?
Paint our bedroom. This is something I’d like to do, not something that I’ve actively tried to do. 🙂
What do you plan on reading next? One of the top three books on my TBR – if Exclusive Books will only deliver them! If I finish Chaka before they deliver, perhaps Oryx and Crake…
